Bishop Michael E. Mitchell, Sr & First Lady
Ena Mitchell.
Bishop Michael E. Mitchell, Sr. born in
Jamaica West Indies on Christmas day is the pastor and founder
of the King’s Chapel Church of God, “A Place Where God is
Changing Lives.”
His ministry began when he
accepted Christ at age nineteen and was actively involved in the
ministry of the May Pen Baptist Church. He served as
Sunday School Teacher and Youth President. He was so full
of fervor that he conducted open air meeting, sometimes by
himself traveling from parish to parish.
Bishop Mitchell recognized
the call of God was upon his life and entered seminary in
1978 at the Jamaica Open Bible Institute. While still in
seminary he was appointed as Pastor of the Bethel Open Bible
Church. He earned his credential as licensed and then ordained
minister in the Open Bible Standard Church of Jamaica. He served
as pastor for nine years and during this time the church
experienced phenomenal growth.
In 1987 he felt the call of God to move to
the U.S.A. and upon migrating to the U.S.A. in 1988, he joined
the New Testament Church of God at 339 Blue Hills Avenue and
served there for approximately 10 years working with Bishops L.
Martin Wright and Jeremiah McIntyre.
Bishop Mitchell served in various areas such
as the Pastor Council, Evangelism Dept, Prison
Ministry, Sunday School Teacher and was instrumental in helping
to start the Food Pantry.
Although he already held
credentials with the Open Bible Church, his quest for increased
knowledge of the word of God and additional training, motivated
him to enroll in the Black Ministries Certificates Program at
the Hartford Seminary which he successfully completed.
At present Bishop Mitchell is assisted by
First Lady Ena Mitchell who serves as the children church Pastor
and Director. |
